I also use double and have not noticed that it caused any problems with people not willing to confirm.

I have been using double optin. Has anyone switched from double to single and seen any improvement in their sign up rates?

I use double on forms where there is no other action other than signing up. However on some forms that are in a place where the person has already performed an action I only use single.

Aweber and most of the other email services have double as their default and you generally have to jump through a couple of hoops and warnings to shut it off. They would like everyone to use double in order to keep the spam complaints down.

Also if you move to single they are more likely to shut you down if you do get complaints on your list.

That is why I use double. It is the default and I have never seen a reason to move to single as it was presented as riskier.

Using double seems safer than using single I would always be worried about to many spam complaints.

Double most of the time but if the person has already taken some kind of action or the form is protected some how I use single.
