This is a misconception: the age of a domain name doesn't matter! Only the backlinks matter! Stop looking for "aged" domains, go for domains with existing backlinks.

Aged domains have authority because they had more time to gain backlinks. If you can get the same amount of backlinks like an aged domain has in less time, then your domain is worth the same like an older domain.

There are two parts to this.

Does an aged domain (outside of links) have any advantage over a brand new domain? My experience says yes it does but that once you get over about a year there does not seem to be much difference. Also what seems to matter is how long the domain is active and indexed not how long it has  been registered.

Is a site with 100 new links worth the same as a site with 100 aged links? Not even close. Links do increase in value as they age, this is a big reason that older domains do better, not always so much because they are older but because their links are older.

There are advantages to having an aged domain but as always there are a lot of factors to look at and you always have to balance the advantage against the cost.

I also agreed with the aged domain with backlinks. If they have backlinks then it does not matter whether it's age is.

Wow, I didn't know that. Do you work for Google?

To me it seems like AGE of links is what matter. And domain age is strongly collerated with age of links pointing to it, so it does matter in my opinion.

Actually google applied for this patent:
    http://appft1.uspto.gov/netacgi/nph-Parser?Sect1=PTO1&Sect2=HITOFF&d=PG01&p=1&u=%2Fnetahtml%2FPTO%2Fsrchnum.html&r=1&f=G&l=50&s1=%2220050071741%22.PGNR.&OS=DN/20050071741&RS=DN/20050071741

It's a good reading, of course we can't be sure what they use or don't use currently.
But they do talk quite a bit about AGE of links and documents and Age distribution of links.

In my opinion an aged domain 100% has more power than a brand new domain even without backlinks!

So your assertion is that buying a brand new domain and pointing 100 links at it is no different then buying a 12 year old domain and also pointing those same 100 links to?

Sorry if I have to ask for logical proof prior to me just saying "ya OK sure".

Until then I will continue to buy old seasoned domains for 10 bucks and use them for SEO purposes because I have seen the value.
