I just won an auction on Namejet.. it was PR5 when I got it - due to an account mix up it took me 3 days to get access to it to make the whois private. I chked in Rankchecker.com - its saying the PR can't be verified! in the SEO plugin for chrome the PR is Zero.

Could the lag time between winning auction and a couple days between transfer/Whois be the culprit?
Will I somehow get the PR back - when I remove the stock network solutions page? and Private the Whois?

This domain is 8 years old.. so it has some links..

IF not it was an expensive lesson.

    Thoughts?

If it becomes N/A, you have chance to get it back. If shows 0, you are surely be scamed by fake PR.

If you get a domain from an auction and then all of a sudden privacy is added and then the nameservers are changed etc then the PR "disappearing" is actually very common and happens quite a bit.

As long as it had some good links that were giving it its PR and they are still there then I would imagine it will come back.

Just proceed as you were going to, setting up the domain on your hosting account and adding some content etc.

Jesus Christ!  I had a mini heart-attack earlier this is good news.. there is hope.
I went through a fair amount of due-diligence via spyglass and majestic... Pat,  any ideas on when the PR comes back? is it a few days? weeks? I've already initiated the private whois and getting the domain setup now.

I'm not sure of an exact time frame but it does generally come back relatively soon.

It depends on how quickly you add content to your site. Have you tried www or without www PR of your site, it may be possible PR retain at specific link. But if its 0 then wait for PR update. One of my regular site (not expired one) remained down for more than 15 days and its PR became n/a but once I made it live again, PR came back in 2-3 days.

Yep tried www and non-www. There are still some PR5-6's pointing to domain so.. but for now the PR is unverified. We just had a Public PR update back in 1st wk of FEB... so I think this might be an "adjustment period" like Pat is mentioning.

    Fingers Crossed.

I have found quite often that if any of my domains are "offline" without any specific nameserver, and Google crawls it, the domain becomes deindexed and PR drops to N/A. Once Ive uploaded a website to the domain and pinged it, the domain becomes indexed again within a few days and regains its PR.
Check info:domainname.com in Google search to see if its deindexed. If it is then get some content uploaded and get it pinged.
    Hope this helps.

Agreed that it will come back if it's N/A. I picked up a PR4 domain in an auction and it went to N/A but I just checked and it's back to PR4. Anybody want to buy it now that it's a legit PR4? :)
