I'm wondering if anyone on this forum has been able to consistently generate 250,000+ hits a day to their sites? I know this sounds like a lot, but I know it's possible. I'm just curious to know the mentality behind this kind of traffic, and what it takes to get there. :)

If anyone gets 250k a day it is all bots and only used for their alexra ranking. Bot traffic and all that stuff sucks anyway. IMO

Hits, page views, or visitors. They are not the same thing. 300 visitors can easily generate 5k hits without a problem.

Not really, I just took a quick look at the stats of my  busiest client and he had 24k unique visitors last month but it generated over 2 million hits and that does not count bot traffic. He sells a line of products he manufactures himself, has been in business since the late 90's and makes pretty good bank.

Hits do not really mean anything, the numbers that really matter are unique visitors, pages per visit, and visits per visitor.

I'm referring to visits, not spread too far over unique visitors. I'm kinda determined to just get a huge a** site up and go for it. I don't think it would be THAT hard (don't get me wrong here) to generate that many organic visits on a really high quality site. I'm just looking for someone who does it, even with multiple sites.

i think you might be underestimating how hard it is to build a site that gets that much traffic....

It really depends on what kind of site you are looking to build. Back in 2005, I had a site that I posted funny videos, pictures, links etc. on every day and I got it up to 50,000 uniques a day. My best day was 400,000+ uniques from ranking #1 on Google for a big news event. Eventually, I got bored with the site and stopped updating it on a daily basis, and thus traffic dropped. If you are looking to build a huge site, I'd suggest setting one up that is primarily user-generated content so it will grow organiically and so you don't have to be responsible for adding new content every single day and instead you can focus on adding new features, getting more users, monetizing it, etc.

I've gotten there a few times, but only when an article hits a social nerve or gets shared by a big social power account. Regular days aren't near that.

However, I don't necessarily focus on traffic - but overall income. Unless your business model revolved around getting lots of views it's kind of pointless to worry about that figure.

Oh no I know it's not at all easy...I'm just saying it's possible and not out of reach. Really don't get me wrong if it were easy I wouldn't be asking people if they've gotten there lol

If you have a properly converting website, you can make far more consistent income from 100 properly targeted uniques a day than 250k a month of freebie-hunting junk traffic. On the other hand, having ambitious goals is part of the fun of IM!

we have site that gets 250k uniques a month, approx 8k visitors a day. ATM I am trying to get it above 10k a day by targetting new keywords as well as adding additional lines.

Agree, its probably cheaper and easier to just buy bulk traffic than to do the SEO required to achieve 250,000 a day.

How would you convert that kind of traffic anyway?

Then again I guess Ezinearticles was making bank with adsense at its height in 2010.

I have never found that purchased traffic converts at all, even so called targeted traffic and I have tested it a few times. You really need people that come to  your website on purpose.

I agree but to SEO a site for some low competition big keywords just to get 250,000 visitors will cost about the same as buying the traffic in bulk and it will probably convert about the same. Quicker to buy in bulk.

Of course its better to just go after 100 visitors that convert well and that will buy personal yachts or jumbo jets off your lead gen site:-)

Well you are not going to get 250k visitors a day from a low competition niche. Actully buying traffic will be a lot cheaper then getting ranked for the keywords you would need to get organic traffic but it will not convert nearly as well.  Traffic that comes to  your site on purpose is always going to convert way better than traffic that was tricked into coming  to your site and when  you purchase traffic that is who those visitors are.
