We submit articles to the various networks, we include a random unique search string to keep track of indexing rates and to further promote the urls with our links on them.

But by it's very nature, this can only grab articles that G has found and decided to index

This is great because we can multi tier promote them and get a better idea of how well our subs are getting spread out and getting/staying indexed.

But, what about all the other subs that G finds and decides not to include in the index? 'Brand new article, no links coming to it, nothing special, we are either going to 'flash index it' or just not index it at all right from the start NO SOUP FOR YOU!'

If we can grab these types of urls we could send more links to them, perhaps making them valuable enough in G's eyes to include in their index, which would then give us the link juice from that article link itself, along with all the deeper tiered links coming up through it.

    But how to grab these?

Is there perhaps a lesser known search engine to scrape, one that finds and allows a much wider variety of content without much of a filter...one that is so hungry to create a base that it just sucks up EVERYTHING.

Or could there be a way to search for codestrings in majestic seo or spyglass the way we can for research on urls?

Any other ideas, guesses, or wild-ass conjectures?

I use the PingBack Power plugin.

By default Wordpress sends pingbacks. Many people don't disable this option, they do not even know about this option. You receive the pingback even if Google hasn't indexed the page yet.

I get blog networks urls through pingback also. I don't have the pingback Power plugin. I'll check that one also. I always get them that way.

Brilliant thank you, ive seen this mentioned before i think, ill check it out.

Without being familiar with this, I am guessing I need to install this plugin on all the sites I am linking back to, then when a post is made to these other blogs, my blog plugin collects all of the blog urls my article is on?

I am pretty sure I know whats being referenced here, in the settings/discussion section of wp admin Allow link notifications from other blogs (pingbacks and trackbacks)

    Is checked by default...

Great stuff, will try it out, thanks guys

ps- until i wrap my head around this...i do NOT have to have either boxes checked on MY blog to make this work right? i just need the plugin enabled to accept and collect the ping/track backs coming from OTHER blogs that DO have those boxes checked?

Attempt to notify any blogs linked to from the article
Allow link notifications from other blogs (pingbacks and trackbacks)

edit again- i see  its talking about both blogs having them enabled....

It seems that recently some networks stopped sending pingbacks, or something changed with pingbacks in Wordpress since i dont get pingbacks anymore on my sites, although articles are still getting posted?!

As for "unique search strings"...many networks do not allow this.

I hadn't seen this before, looks like a fantastic plugin!
