I use Freshdrop because of the layout and how easy it is for me to sort by whatever characteristic is important to me at the moment.  It makes finding domains really really easy.  Freshdrop has the best layout and search function of any of the sites I have seen.  If there was a free alternative that basically cloned them, then I would use that free alternative instead.

expireddomains.net isn't something I have ever come across.

I use register compass as it does everything I need it to, often I won't spend time researching free options if I have something that works, my time is too valuable.

http://prdrop.info is another free service. I use http://swiftdrops.com/, its pretty new but the owner has quite a few upgrades which would help speed up the domain research and buying part.

I agree with this. If the paid solutions provided something of value that expired domains didn't I might consider paying. The only thing I can think of they could improve on is the user interface. And honestly they all dont really excel in that either.

On a different note, when are you going to start a official thread here for your blog network?

    Well,

ExpiredDomains has the functionality of other domain services but it´s free, so you should try it.

Plenty of people still use DropDay, myself included, but it's not as good as Register Compass or FreshDrop.

I'm not even sure why I still use it instead of one of the others, to be honest.

Expireddomains.net is definitely the best free option available but it's horrible at filtering out fake PR so you really have to do a lot more "manual checks".

I have got to be honest here and say no matter what service or software I used in the past I have always manually checked almost all the stats and most definitely for a fake PR. I don't trust any of them on that. I also have to be honest and admit that I have not found many of them to be significantly off. But I know Ima gonna do it anyways so....

Yes, you should always do a final manual PR check, indexing check, etc. before acquiring any domain but I found Dropday and Register Compass did a MUCH better job at filtering out the fake PRs to begin with.  Otherwise, you'll waste a ton of time going over domains in the intial stage that should have been eliminated in the intial search process.

Fake PR is basically the 2nd thing I do.

    1) index check
    2) fake PR check
    3) "dropped" check

I don't think it saves that much time but I do agree DropDay does a pretty good job at filtering them out.

Used to use DropDay but find Register Compass a lot easier as you can instantly set your paramaters such as PR,number of links, linking domains, indexed pages etc and then download the list to a spreadsheet. I have found that they have been giving fewer sites lately though.

See that was my point. None of them, including Expireddomains, have a significant amount of problems in this area to make a noticeable difference. For example, if RC had a 1% false reading on fake pr and ED had a 3%, this would be a major difference. But completely insignificant in the scheme of things considering your example. The reason I recently dropped DD and RC (FreshDrop always seemed like a complete ripoff to me) was because of the insignificance I noticed. For me, ED does what the paid versions do, just not quite as fine tuned. And since I am going to double check anyways, I don't see the value. Will I waste a couple of minutes here and there checking that domain? Maybe, but that is an insignificant amount of time in the long run.

I too used expired domain - the advanced search filters are great and I always check out a domain manually once I find a few.  Also - scrapebox has a good fake pr checker in their addon tools.  Other than layout then what do the paid sites offer?
