Short answer is that unlike the original patent paperwork, it seems like there is a tipping point before you hit diminishing returns....3 is certainly below that number

From my experience I have noticed strong effects from having just 1 or 2 links per post rather than 3 or more..

I have sites with review posts that have multiple links and they do fine.

I don't have it laying around lol. On his profile you can get a list of every post he has made here though....probably your best bet

Its not hard and fast rule to 1 link per post. You have to just make quality back link. backlinksindexer will help you and give you an idea.
