Honestly? I think it is one of the best solutions available at the moment. I have been at it for last 4 months and it works.
I don't want to hijack this thread, but seriously, think about it - it does make a perfect sense, especially if you already have your own sites and want to be in control.

I have been using Link Authority and it appears that the links from there are some of the only ones I have still indexed!
Has anyone used this recently and found it to be useful?

I just checked the results and 41 links are currently indexed, all on pages with Page Rank N/A which is to be expected because all posts would have fallen from the home page by now.
Out of the 41 indexed links, domain PR is as follows - PR3 x 3, PR2 x 5, PR1 x 5, PR0 x 23 and PRN/A x 5. The articles were all posted on February 26 2012.
Hope this data helps :-)

Thanks! That's really helpful - and those results sound good to me.
I have been looking for a way to get some article distribution that stays indexed since the whole thing with the blog networks happened. I'm probably going to sound a bit stupid, but how did you get 41 indexed links out of 10 articles posted? (I have not used AR before, just doing some research on it! sorry)

I put one link into each article and each article was submitted between 27 - 30 times. 10 x 30 = 300 potential links. After 2 months 41 of those links have stuck and are still indexed.
Hope this helps !

I think anyone using AR or any other spinning network should be using them as tier 2 links now - Using them as tier 2's work just as well and it stops the site from getting penalised as only trusted sites will link back to you
