Why Fresh Content is Important For Google, It does not make sense ?

I have this question for a long time and among all the SEO forums, Here I get better answer most of time. :-)

I heard people often telling, Google loves fresh content all the time.
There is absolutely no need to change the content of the home pages for the above websitesThese companies sell some products, Why should they keep on changing home page all the time ? Unless if there is need to change some price or some hosting plans.

Take example of some web design company or some company provides XYZ consultation services.

Consider a business website where you are providing set of services, May be like a web design service. Every other day, you will not be changing your service. So, why should we change the content every day to rank better in google ?
how changing the content every days make it as a good website for google.

meta title duplicity

Hi Guys,
I have an authority website doing quite well on google (top 5 for very competetive keywords in my niche). We now set up an online shop as well.
The main website has a meta title and description almost identical to the online shop. The main website is now internaly linked so all of our major keywords are ponting to our online shop.
urls look like this:

www.domain.com (homepage)
www.eshop.domain.com (online shop url)

Now is this taken as duplicity?

I'm with their paid plan but, it's still in beta, you can't really add urls keywords in a convinient way and they update just once per week, trying to convince the people that's ok....

Like many of you my websites took a spanking from the Penguin update and a lot of my sites have lost traffic for all their broad and longtail keywords. I am happy however that one of my biggest money site is now regaining original positions for some, but not all my keywords. The site has had little backlinking done since 2009, but has links from some blog networks using spun content like ALN.

I am now ranking again for my target keywords which were linked from spun content. The one thing that seperates this site and my other sites which have lost virtually all their traffic, is that it has a more diverse range of backlinks. The others I had got a bit lazing by ranking purely using blog networks alone because of their previous ranking power. Anyone else notice any improvements?

What's with all the "Penguin-Safe" and "Destroy Penguin"-type ads in the Classified section? Seriously, it's gotten absurd already and claiming a service to be "Penguin-Proof" is suspect at best and deceptive at worst.

The kicker is that when you actually open up a bunch of these offers, it's the same old, same old ***** that caused the Penguin update in the first place. I know, because I was one of them--until I woke up and realized that the game was changed. I'm not going to point out anyone in particular, but selling a bunch of Web 2.0s with spun content is NOT PENGUIN PROOF, and to present it as such is blatant false advertising.

I'm not a mod on this forum and don't wish to become one, but I have to call foul on this one. Calling some of these service "Penguin Proof" is as truthful as calling spun content "100% unique articles." We'd never tolerate someone selling scraped garbage as "Premium 100% Hand-Written articles." So why do we allow sellers to dupe unsuspecting buyers into purchasing their "Penguin-Safe" services when the services are anything but?

Web 2.0s? If these were Penguin-proof, Penguin wouldn't have put people out of business since everybody and their dog uses these ad infinitum.

Wiki links? Uber-spammed out by now.

Social bookmarks? Google is all over these by now, past their heyday and for a reason.

"PR 1-5 blog posts from a network whose name I cannot reveal." You have to be living under a rock at this point to not know what network(s) this is.

Blog comments? Profiles? Seriously are you so ***** shady to call these Penguin safe?

Just a few notes to clear the air:

1) Not all sellers with Panda or Penguin in their thread titles are being deceptive--just most of them are.

2) Selling these kinds of "same-old, same old" links are perfectly fine, and they have their place in SEO. But please don't attach the names Panda or Penguin to them.

This issue may go unresolved and if so, then so be it. But I, for one, am tired of the outright lying going on in the Classified section.

ALN lost 5,297 Domains in 1 week

I was surprised to see Authority Link Network drop so many domains in a short period.  It appears the HPBL De-indexing update might be spreading to ALN now.  Losing 25% of the network in one week is not a good sign.

Last week ALN had:  22,954 Blogs
Today is has:  17,657 Blogs

There hasn't been any PR updates over the last week, so it appears the 5,297 domains lost were directly related to de-indexing.

If you received a message last night that some of your domains were removed from the network due to de-indexing; you're not alone.  These footprints are becoming too easy for Google to find.

John and I have decided to focus again on our Article Backlink Co-op http://www.articlebacklinkco-op.com/   Those of you who remember the Backlinksforum might remember the discussions we had about creating a high quality shared article network.  We had to pull the plug on that project to fix our HPBL networks-- but we've got that issue resolved and are ready to move forward again on creating a new network that is safer from getting de-indexed and is higher quality.

If anyone has any ideas they would like to have us build into the network; please share them.  We're planning on implementing some principles we're using on our new reloaded program.  (Those of you who are our members know what I'm referring to)

NOTE:  I still think ALN will be okay and continue to provide value.  But, when 25% of the network gets de-indexed; its time to rethink and plan more for future algo changes.

The recent Penguin update caused a drastic decline in traffic for ALL of my sites. In the last days I spent a lot of time trying to find out what is causing the problem.

My sites neither do have the backlink profile in common, nor are they spammy. I also would not say that they are over optimized.

Yesterday evening I came across an article:

Which was very enlightning. Indeed the only thing all of my sites have in common are certain wp-plugins e.g. Zemanta, Link Juice Keeper, [de77] No Follower...

According to the article certain wp-plugins add hidden links to your website, you are not aware of.

I know Zemanta is adding hidden links. I now started removing Zemanta from all of my sites and also other unneccessary plugins.

I am not 100% sure, that the hidden links is what caused Google dumping all of my sites..

So just in case, the wp-plugin hidden links problem is something you also should have a look at!

Hey guys,
I have a quick question maybe somebody ventured in these waters and I can get some advice on it. So not long ago I've read a WSO or something like that about how easy is to get clients for SEO through LinkedIn.

Now i know 95% are crap and 4% don't work. The main idea is to setup a profile, joined groups and start sending out PM's to business owners in those groups. A little freebie here another deal there and they are happy campers with you.

The only reason I joined this forum was because of Terry.

I had bought some of his products in the past and also read some of his epic posts on other forums and realised that this was a guy who knew a LOT more about SEO than I ever will but he was also prepared to help others with his findings.

We have all just experienced one of the most major algorithm updates ever by Google and the contribution by Terry is not exactly prolific since Penguin was rolled out.

The first two "SundaySEO videos" from Terry since Penguin have rolled out have been about Negative SEO and Directory of Ezines !

I would welcome your take on the update if you're willing to share it with us and what you think the future holds.

Are other people getting this?

One client site got hit badly, for about 6 weeks has been bouncing between pages 8 - 10 (was on page 1 before the hit) and all I did was a press release to it, and now its gone down to page 18, total and utter mess.

Got another clients site that has been hit for about a month now but not as bad (yet), I've not done anything else to that site but its gradually starting to drop more and more now so can see the big hit coming.

What do people suggest doing to combat this?

(301 is NOT an option on either site)

Anchor Text Suggestions For Those Still Scratching Their Heads

Example: I own a website called widgets.com and want to rank for widgets

1. Building click here, widgets.com, my website anchors probably aren't going to help people coming out of the penalty faster. So as long as you are building links you probably should go for a variation of your keyword like blue widgets, red widgets, green widgets, buy widgets. That way when the penalty is released on the next Penguin filter update your site ranks for your main keyword and several others.

2. Chances are for most competitive terms you are still going to need HPBL and blog posts from a network. Try get links from many smaller networks and don't leverage one too hard. Also take a look at their sales copy and see how the network was set up. What is the OBL? Are they selling sidebar links too? These links will probably be a smaller portion of your portfolio than they were in the past, but the fact is they still work.

3. Profile links, blog comment links still work great in your second tier. Heck they probably still work just fine if you are varying your anchor text in your first Tier provided that you don't have a lot of links dying causing an anti-link velocity penalty similar to what is seen when a network like BMR is deindexed.

3. Sometimes you can work yourself out of the Penguin by 301 redirecting your site to a new domain. Yes, I know this is not an option for everyone and sometimes it does pass the penalty through. Generally redirect to an aged non-penalized domain, PR of this domain does not matter.

4. Web 2.0 properties still work, what most people are failing to do is get them indexed. It is almost laughable how many properties are created and do not get indexed. The only way we've found to get these indexed at a high rate when using spun content is NLI + Linklicious + Lindexed + Web 2.0 blasts + Profiles + Blog Comments. Also consider saving all of your account login information for these accounts.

5. Remember not every link you build shows up in MajesticSEO so if you are reviewing your link profile, remember you probably have a higher percentage of your main anchor text than you think. The Xrumer blast was on 10k unique domains. As for the blog posts on tier 2, they actually make some sense, however they were detected as duplicate by Copyscape, meaning they are not heavily spun. Some like this, some do not, just be aware of it.

As for the 1st tier (web 2.0) everything is as described, I entered two of these "mini-blogs" in Copyscape and they passed.

No idea when all these links went live, but except 2 blog posts (didn't check profiles) nothing is indexed.

Let me start with, I am a noob asking for advice.

I am an SEO Copywriter and my site has just taken a dive.  Besides a handful of directories, all my inbound links are from guest blogs on high quality sites (although many are SEO based sites).  I had a bigger client link to me in her footer giving me 3000 anchor text based links - which I got her to change to my brand name yesterday in a bid to avoid tanking.  I am 100% guilty of over optimising my site internally.  That is, I have about 200 pages on the site, each assigned specific keywords and linked by those keywords.  My page titles follow the traditional Keyword 1 | Keyword 2 | Brand Name format and my keywords are in H tags aplenty.

I also have a 3000 strong "authentic" facebook community and social media referrals make up about 1/3 of my traffic.  I also have a naff presence on all the other major social platforms.

I am worried about "de-optimising" my website as I was on page one for about 40 keywords and on teh first 3 pages for over 100.  I will have to check but my impressions rate has dropped by 4/5ths!

I would like any tips for de-optimising that won't make me completely invisible to Google.

Also, what then?  Do I go through webmaster tools and plead my case or do I wait for it all to correct organically?

Every search I do is full of inaccurate PR blogs. Apparently, their PR info provider is useless. I log in, I see 10 blogs on my list that are supposedly PR 4-6 but when I check PR individually, they are all PR0-3 max.

We all know the power of aged domains, but since Penguin has slapped so many domains, is this now a unpredicateble strategy?

You can purchase an aged domain and 301 it to another site. However this might not have any impact if the domain has been affected by the Penguin update, and there isn't any way to check before purchasing if the domain has been impacted by the update. So it might just turn out being a waste of money.

Or am I missing something? Would love to hear other peoples thoughts on this.

Pixelgrinder and I conducted a little experiment on whether negative seo was possible in the current climate - we felt it was important to know whether it was possible for a site to be negatively affected completely by outside influences.  This experiment was not done with the knowledge or consent of TrafficPlanet.com owners/admin/moderators.

We carried out a massive scrapebox blast on two sites to ensure an accurate result.  The two sites we chose and the reasons we chose them are as follows:

5.  He is a suck-up-brown-noser, smugly bad mouthing everyone and crowing that "many pants are being pooped and it's long overdue" - we don't like him.

I've decided to throw the white flag, in a sense, to Google. I verified my WMT account through my godaddy DNS panel today and sure enough...there the "love letter" was. Up til today I never used WMT.

My site ranked ok last year. But I really turned up the juice on ALN posts early this year....and my rankings were awesome. Until April.

I'm thinking about just replying to G, telling them I'm guilty as charged, and attempting to get some of these links removed. I am seeing sites like http://www.blurbpoint.com/remove-unnatural-links.php advertising on adwords, hoping to capitalize on bozos like me.

Just wondering, has anyone actually had success at satisfying Google with their attempts to remove unnatural links? And if so, did you hire anyone to do it? I'd much rather pay someone who can make enough headway for me to get back in Google's good graces.

Should I vary the categories???

This might sound strange to a few, but the LSI rollout has been coming for the last two years. It began VERY slowly. At a snales pace, I warned about it on 'other' forums...... Essentially 'over-optimized' sites were those that had tons of inbound links with very little LSI related content on the pages of the backlinking page. Thus, they are 'under-optimized'....

Then, I discovered the WIKI revolution. Let google read this, I don't care anymore. I only lost about 10% of my sites yesterday, and I do STRICTLY blackhat. So suck on that google.

The sites that survived were optimized in the following fashion: they ONLY had HIGH-PR links from either relevant OR un-relevant sites. It didn't make one ***** of a difference if a high PR link had LSI related content. You can't change what works, and Larry Pages original 'pagerank' copyright is still in FULL EFFECT. But I digress, back to the LSI issue.

Essentially, every 'update' google has put out since the 2004-2006 era has NOT been a 'user update'...they have simply been anti-spam updates....

I'm going to say two thing and two things only.....LSI and HIGH PR. That's what works, period. Always has and always will.

That's why the wiki sites are so great, you can create huge articles of relevant content with your links on them. The More LSI the better. Google has been pushing out the LSI rollout over the last 2 years, and this is the cumulative effect of it. I personally use LSI WIKI-BOTS and rank myself like crazy with spun articles all day, guess what, these sites are still up and running great. I use article submitters and rank myself like crazy too. Google LOVES pages of pure LSI. They simply can't get enough of it! You know what, all of my clients sites SURVIVED this crappy update because I MIX it up and add loads of high PR and LSI. Period. I could rank a site that is a total *****, so don't tell me 'content is king'....

The 'pictures' OF spun ***** that Matt Cutts posted up yesterday have NOT effected my sites, yet anyway, although my spinning technique is 99.9% better than the ones shown by Matty boy.

Let's also not forget that high Pagerank sites (Larry Page's original forumula) still WORKS. Pagerank is the lifeblood of google, and it hasn't changed. The spam-team changed, but let's face it, old Larry's original forumla that you can download from the patent department is just as relevent today as ever.

Ohhh, also google seems to favor sites with at LEAST 5 pages and at least 'some' variation of keywords pointing to the homepage. You can pretty much point whatever you like at sub-pages....but the homepage, you better get some variation in there. That's been my experience anyway.

But one thing to consider is I spread this out over 2 urls/keywords and I bought the smaller promo, meaning the bare minimum - so bang for the buck I see nothing working this well. (currently I am testing 4 different promos simultaneously using different urls and keywords).

They have about 30k followers each. They speak boldaciously and both appear to be created by the same person. Or they could be. So similar in tweet comments and attitude.

You need to scour other affiliate networks to see if you can get a higher payout on a product.

Just to use some of the above niches as an example, many electronic products are going to have a certain shelf life before something newer comes out, and then search demand and profit potential just dies off. So if you're going to get into a niche at all, realize how much time you stand to pull in revenue from a product, and get in and milk it for everything it's worth while you can.

Quick example... The very first Squidoo lens I ever setup was about a year ago. I was struggling to make money online, and my efforts at setting up fresh domains and chasing the wave of popularity surrounding a product weren't paying off. I already knew about Squidoo, but a WSO I read led me to revisit it. The product was for a popular "as seen on tv" kids stuffed animal that sold for $20. It had about 6,000 exact match searches at the time on Google alone. My payout was only $1 through Amazon, but another affiliate network i was a part of was offering a $9 payout. Which one would you choose? If you're not going to do your due diligence in researching affiliate networks to find the best payout, you're leaving a lot of money on the table.

I'm not saying I never monetize a lens with Amazon modules, but it's never my primary focus on converting sales. Unless you're selling a high end price tag product, an Amazon payout just isn't going to make it worth my time. I too share earnings with Squidoo, but I just opt to let them keep any adsense clicks and donate these small earnings (maybe $5/mo.) to a charity of my choice or to Squidoo themselves which you can setup in your dashboard.

You don't have to use their modules to make money, and I would encourage you to not make these your emphasis for revenue. Just like you would on a blog, you can put text links and banner ads to your affiliate products. I still go through buying a domain name & point text links to this domain which disguises affiliate urls and redirects to my affiliate offer.

Although this as seen on tv product (that was only available online) would soon make it into bix box retailers 4 months later, resulting in my income from it to dry up, I managed to make $4K in 3 months with my biggest month bringing in $1600. Again, this was the first lens I ever setup, and realistically I caught the niche after it had hit it's prime, so I could have made much more. All from a $20 kids toy.

This was the starting point for me online and since then I've made numerous lenses that have brought in $500-$3000/mo. from each lens, require little maintenance, and rank much faster than setting up a fresh domain. When you're already behind the 8 ball by the time you discover a niche you want to attack, capitalizing on a PR 7 domain to publish my lens is a lot better than waiting for a brand new PR N/A domain to rank.

So the take away here is you can create 420 lenses with poor optimization & monetization techniques that make you $17/mo., or you can do a better job upfront with your lens creation, product & keyword research, search optimization, and make $100's - $1,000's per month from just one.

I want to reiterate this post was not to undermine the case study, but Squidoo was the launch pad for me to realizing "I can actually do this" and make money online. I know for me starting out, I was spending more time, effort, & money trying to get new domains ranked, but often gave up not seeing the project through because it was taking too much time & money before I would see any profit. Looking back now, I'm sure I could have ranked some of these sites in time, but having not made any money, I chalked it up to either me not doing something right or the competition was too stiff. Squidoo allowed me to rank & profit quickly, which gave me the confidence to continue pursuing my online ventures, something I may have given up on otherwise.

You can see on many of these I took an ample amount of time doing my due diligence to provide great content on the lenses (I read character biographies for hours plus I'm a fan). Guess what, the earnings are 0 for those lenses, but for other products they are converting. The risk reward ratio isn't there if you focus on a product for days and it doesn't convert. Need to spread the risk.

When you are stating "you can make more" I agree but you would probably have to spend days or weeks fine tuning a lense and hope it converts.

My PS3 vs Xbox 360 vs Wii is proof of that. That literally took days and days of research and creating the lense - 0 earnings.

I understand if you have a hugely successful ranking lense you will make more $$ but for 99% of squidoo users you aren't going to get Lense of the Day, and your lenses will most likely resemble my earnings versus what you have put forth (closer to hundreds or thousands a month?).

It's a bit like the 1% real life rich people telling the 99% to get their act together. Let's face it, if we asked HONESTLY how many people were raking in XXXX per month on Squidoo I bet the real number is scary low.

For me, I'm torn between a ps3 and an xbox 360. I want to know more information about the two so I can better make a buying decision. So I go online looking to solve my dilemma and determine which unit will work best for me.

Problem #1: Even if I like your review, what is the likelihood I will decide to buy this particular product from you online? Why would I let's say buy a console on Amazon and wait a week for it to get shipped to my house? I know I can go down to Best Buy and buy the console today, I can dig into the box and pull out all the cool components like it's Christmas morning today, I can start playing my favorite game today, versus having to wait a week for it to show up on my doorstep. People are naturally impulsive, and don't want to wait for anything if they don't have to. Issue #1 is that you've created a lens that although may be informative, people won't buy from. Not because you're not providing good information, but because it's way more convenient and gratifying to get the product in their hands sooner rather than later, even if that means they spend more money at a brick & mortar retailer. If you are going to take this route, you have to do an amazing job of convincing people to buy from you now, and online.

Problem #2: The products you are selling on the lens (although related) are actually irrelevant to the what the lens is centrally focused about, and likely the kind of traffic you're getting. All the products you're selling are games, but yet I see no opportunity to buy a console from this lens. If your lens is about reviews of "game consoles", don't try sand sell them "video games". That's not what they searched for. Although I still stand by my statement above, you would at least give yourself a fighting chance by placing Amazon links for these consoles. After all, that's what you're reviewing, that's what your page title is about, and that "should be" what you're trying to sell. If I want to buy video games, I'll search for them specifically.

Relevancy is key here. Search engines try and deliver relevant results for a reason, and you should be doing everything you can to deliver a relevant product, or at least an alternative to what they searched for that will still satisfy their need. Furthermore, as a consumer, I'm not ready to buy a video game yet. Remember at this point I'm just trying to determine which console to buy, so purchasing a game isn't on my agenda at the immediate moment. Even if you had page 1 ranking, the 2 above reasons are why this lens isn't converting sales. From a buyer's perspective, I know I can get my instant gratification by buying this product elsewhere, and the products you're offering me aren't relevant to what I'm searching for.

Google's keyword tool shows me exact match local monthly searches of 110. For me, this is WAY too low to even pursue, but let's still entertain the idea. One thing I never promote is products that are available at a lot of different retailers. If you're trying to convert sales with organic traffic, you have to understand what challenges these types of product and retailers pose to your success profiting from that niche. Do a search on Google for "wonder woman statue" and let's see what we find:

First off, I'm seeing 5 paid ad placements for some big name retailers. Then I'm seeing an additional 3 listings under shopping results. This is a bad sign right out of the gate. 50% of the serp page above the fold is shopping results, occupying a lot of real estate. Then your first organic listing is Amazon. With a product like this, people really don't need a review to buy. They know what they want, and they are just looking for a place to buy it at the best price. Even if you have the top organic listing just below the shopping results, the searcher has 8 opportunities at the top of the serp to buy this product, all with price points listed. So what do they need to read your page for? If you're going to tackle this niche product, you better be at the #1 organic listing under the shopping results, and your title tag MUST provide an extremely compelling reason why that searcher should click on your page before clicking on any of the shopping results above.

The only plus with this particular product is it's not something you can just run down to Walmart and pick up off the shelf. You'll likely need to buy it online (which is HUGE for physical product affiliate campaigns). Having said that, I tend to stray from campaigns that have that much "shopping results" presence at the top of the serps. Let me caveat this statement with some exceptions:

The first being Christmas. If I know a product will be hot for the holiday season, even if they can get it at a local store, I may decide to promote it. People spend billions online for Christmas, and many people will buy online and ship directly to a relative, grandchild, etc, versus buying it at a store, and then having to ship it themselves. In addition, with it being a preplanned event, awaiting shipping time frames are less of a concern because people aren't going to open gifts until Christmas, so this squashes the "instant gratification" issues. The second exception is high end products people are less likely to buy until they've read reviews first. Despite the existence of heavy shopping results in the serps, if I know that "product name reviews" is searched for a lot, and I'm confident I can get a top spot in the serps just below the shopping results without a searching having to scroll down to find me, and i know I stand to make a decent chunk off each sales, then it's a more attractive opportunity.

Taking into consideration that people are not likely looking for a "review" on this product, there's heavy paid & organic shopping results occupying a lot of the top serps, and with only 110 exact match searches for this term gives this promotion an "I'll pass" rating. Don't create a lens just because an affiliate opportunity exists to "potentially" make money. You're probably building lenses in a backwards approach. Don't create lenses on just any random topic and then try and figure out how to monetize them. Spending more time on the front end researching the profit potential of a campaign, evaluating your competition in the serps, and determining the difficulty of an organic search campaign will mean you spend less time building 100's of lenses that amount to nothing, and more time getting intimate with a promotion that will get you paid.

Alot of the same here. Very low search volume, and no real need for someone to review your page before making a buying decision. With that being said, there's no reason you couldn't easily acquire a page 1, position 1 listing in the serps for these "statue" terms with a properly optimized lens, sound seo, and a backlink campaign to get you there.

THE POSITIVE TAKEAWAY:

You created 400+ lenses, with extremely minimal return on investment (even if that investment was just time), and you're still plugging away at it. This degree of persistence is rare, and an enormous personal asset. With that work ethic, once you figure out how to attack the right niches, with the right blueprint, and the right seo efforts to back it, you'll be crushing it in no time. Hopefully my "how-to lens case study" will help set you on the right track so you stop spinning your wheels and start banking. I'd ideally like to have this done in a week, so I'll keep everyone posted.

You start to see trends that you didn't see before. You start to realize, dang, I really shouldn't have even been in that niche, I shouldn't have targeted that product, or the product is good, and people are spending money on it, just not online. The more failures you have, the more examples you have of what to avoid next time.

When you get to this stage, this is when you really start making money, because you stop wasting time, effort, & cash on campaigns that don't stand a chance of pulling a profit before you ever write your first sentence of a review. It seems the common denominator with alot of people using Squidoo is that they churn out WAY too many lenses. When one doesn't work, they go to the next, then the next, then the next, never looking in the rear view mirror to get a valuable takeaway of why a lens is under-performing.

A lens doesn't need to generate "lifetime" residual income to be a success, and you don't have to create 100's to be profitable. I'd rather have 10 lenses that make $500/mo. each for 6 months than 100 lenses that make $500/mo. collectively for 2 years. Do the math. The reality is, you can always make more lenses, and more and more products will continue to surface with new affiliate opportunities, so a shortage is never a concern for me. I've said this before, you don't need to tackle every product you can find just because an affiliate opportunity exists.

My success comes from making the right choices when selecting products, niches, & keywords to go after. I'm very selective, but only because experience has taught me to do so if I want to yield the profit I expect for my time & effort. I also make reviews that aren't the norm with what you'll see throughout Squidoo. I don't just rehash product info a customer can find on the manufacturer's site, use a faceless avatar bio, and then throw up Amazon links expecting a miracle to happen. What value is that providing? I research my markets VERY well. I take the extra time to do things my competitors just aren't willing to do, so I can realize success with a lens when I build it.

Squidoo isn't a magic bullet. You still have to make good fundamental decisions as an affiliate marketer when attacking campaigns. This is no different even if you were building your own sites. The paramount reason I use Squidoo, is the leverage & speed it affords me in ranking my reviews versus building a new site from scratch. If you don't have the right game plan going in, Squidoo won't save you. But, if you take the appropriate steps on the front end with how you pick niches, how you setup your lens and write your review, Squidoo will ensure you profit faster, and it seems to at least be "more impervious" to rankings plummeting with the algo changes we've been seeing.

Getting independent of Google for traffic is the latest 'talk of the town' and when it comes to this approach there are many props and cons. I would like to get started with the discussion so that if we can build a thread with some genuine discussions, it could be of a great start.

Lets discuss the Props first.

If we build a system where we get traffic from other sources than google, we have a sustainable business model
No need to worry about any search engine algo changes, efforts can be utilized for building better products/services
We get a better laser targeted traffic which would be converting more easily
Our business never turns upside down in a single day.
Never get saturated because of the below mentioned cons

Not as easy as getting traffic from Google by doing some SEO (read it as linkbuilding)
Need more solid content, videos etc to promote our service/product.

Hello All. So I'm into the realm of experimenting with, creating, and spinning unique content these days. In order to avoid making a fatal mistake I want to get some feedback from people smarter than me regarding CopyScape and unique content. So about a month or so ago I had a writer on ODesk write me four top notch 100% unique articles. All of these articles are fantastic and passed CopyScape and I posted one to each of my four Tier 1 sites. Now, needing more unique content to support Tier 2 I hired the same writer to rewrite each article two more times at the sentence level. I just got these back from the writer, but I ran Article 1 Version 2 through Copy Scape and it received a score of 34% non-unique. I ran Article 1 Version 3 through CopyScape and it received a score of 49% non-unique.

Getting to my question, how unique does an article need to be in order to fly under the radar of Big G. If CopyScape can do this in seconds, then Google certainly can do it. Microsoft Word even has a decent compare feature though I don't think it will provide a score in terms of percent uniqueness.
